Dorothy Assongacha,Co-Founder of Amare Bloom Care

Born in the culturally rich Southwest Region of Cameroon, Dorothy Assongacha embodies a fusion of compassion and a deep-seated commitment to healthcare. In 2017, fate guided her to the shores of America, where she embarked on a transformative journey catalyzed by her mother, Anastasia Asong. Settling in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dorothy’s formative years were shaped by the narratives of her aunt, a dedicated nurse, who shared poignant hospital experiences—tales of valiant efforts to save lives, weaving a tapestry of both triumph and tribulation. Motivated by these early encounters, Dorothy embarked on her nursing odyssey at Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks after obtaining her GED. Acquiring her CNA license, she passionately embraced the role, finding daily fulfillment in caring for residents as if they were her own family. Her unwavering commitment to instilling joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging in the lives of those she cared for became her guiding principle.
A unique chapter in Dorothy’s journey unfolded through her involvement with the African Art Arena, led by Dr. Hamzat Amoussa. Engaging with nursing home residents in North Dakota and Minnesota, Dorothy shared African tales, serenaded them with soulful medleys, and even orchestrated heartwarming drumming sessions. This experience, marked by smiles and joy, fueled her conviction that compassion transcends borders.
Now, as Dorothy progresses on her path as a Registered Nurse, she envisions Amare Bloom Care as a beacon of love, hope, and positivity. With a vision that transcends cultural, linguistic, racial, and religious boundaries, Amare Bloom is envisioned as a sanctuary that celebrates diversity in all its forms. Dorothy aspires to build a familial community that defies discrimination and embraces the shared responsibility of care. At Amare Bloom Care, the ethos is simple: when you walk through our doors, you become family, and in this family, we take care of our own.
